AYANA Segara Bali Review — The Ultimate Couple’s Retreat in Jimbaran
If Padma Resort Ubud is where we fell in love with Bali’s jungle, AYANA Segara Bali is where we fell in love with its ocean. This is a resort that doesn’t just provide a place to stay — it provides a reason to never leave. Here’s our honest review.

🛏️ Our Room — Resort View
We stayed in a Resort View room, and the views over the lush AYANA grounds were genuinely beautiful. The rooms at Segara are spacious, immaculately clean, and designed with a blend of modern luxury and Balinese touches — think yukata robes, handcrafted details, and balconies made for long, lazy mornings with a coffee in hand.
🛏️ Room Highlights
- Spacious layout with private balcony or terrace
- Air conditioning, flat-screen TV, minibar
- Yukata robes and premium toiletries
- 24-hour room service
- Free high-speed WiFi (100+ Mbps)
🌅 The Rock Bar — Our Honest Take

AYANA’s Rock Bar is world-famous — perched on natural rock formations above the Indian Ocean, with views that are genuinely spectacular. But here’s our honest take: we’d skip the queue next time.
The sunset at Rock Bar is stunning, but you spend most of it seating under the waiting for sunset, slowly getting sunburned while the clock ticks toward golden hour. Our recommendation? Skip the Rock Bar and head straight to the pool right next to it. You get the exact same sunset view, you’re in the water staying cool, and there’s no queue. It was hands down one of the best moments of our trip — floating in the pool as the sun dropped into the Indian Ocean. No contest.
🏊 14 Pools — Where to Start?
The AYANA complex has 14 pools spread across the property, and as a Segara guest you can use all of them. From the rooftop pool at Segara to the beach pools near Kubu, each one has a different vibe. We didn’t come close to trying all of them — which honestly just means we have a reason to go back.
💡 Pool Tips
- The pool next to Rock Bar is the best sunset spot on the property — better than Rock Bar itself
- Kubu Beach pools are great for a beach day — take the shuttle down
- RIMBA pools have water slides — great if you want something more active
- Go early to claim a sun lounger at the popular pools
🍳 Breakfast — Spoilt for Choice
One of our favourite things about staying at Segara was that breakfast wasn’t limited to one restaurant. As guests, we had access to breakfast across multiple venues in the complex — and we made the most of it. The food was consistently excellent, with a wide range of local Balinese dishes alongside international options. Fresh tropical fruit, nasi goreng, made-to-order eggs, pastries — the kind of breakfast spread you take your time with.
🚌 Getting Around — The Shuttle System
The resort is huge — genuinely one of the largest we’ve ever stayed at. Walking everywhere isn’t really an option, but that’s what the complimentary shuttle is for. Shuttles run frequently between all the properties, the beach, and the main facilities. Once you figure out the shuttle routes (it takes about half a day), getting around becomes easy and actually quite fun.
✅ Tips for Staying at AYANA Segara Bali
- Skip the Rock Bar queue — watch the sunset from the pool next to it instead
- Learn the shuttle routes on day one — it saves a lot of time
- Book breakfast at different venues each morning — variety is one of the best perks
- Ask for a high-floor room for better views over the resort and ocean
- The Thalassotherapy pool at the spa is worth trying — completely unique experience
- Pack mosquito repellent for evenings outdoors
✅ Final Verdict
AYANA Segara Bali is the definition of a resort holiday done right. It’s big, it’s beautiful, and it has everything you could possibly want — pools, beaches, dining, spa, activities. You genuinely don’t need to leave the property for the entire stay, and that’s exactly the point.
If you’re looking for a pure hotelcation in Bali — no touring, no traffic, just complete relaxation — this is where to go. Highly recommended.
